Our Work
Supervision and Professional Development
The International Association for Space Counseling promotes competent, ethical, developmentally appropriate supervision for counselors and behavioral-health professionals who work in spaceflight-related, aerospace, analog, remote, or extreme-environment settings.
Important notice
IASC is a professional membership association. We do not provide clinical supervision, act as a supervisor of record, or authorize anyone to supervise others. We do not issue, confer, or administer any professional license or license-to-supervise credential. Supervision arrangements and all related licensure requirements are governed by the appropriate licensing boards and regulatory authorities in each practitioner's jurisdiction.
IASC Supervision Statement
The International Association for Space Counseling promotes competent, ethical, developmentally appropriate supervision for counselors and behavioral-health professionals who work in spaceflight-related, aerospace, analog, remote, or extreme-environment settings. IASC supports supervision that protects client welfare, develops professional competence, strengthens ethical judgment, and prepares practitioners to navigate the distinctive clinical, operational, technological, and interdisciplinary demands of space-related practice.
IASC encourages supervisors to help supervisees integrate counseling theory, multicultural humility, human-factors awareness, crisis assessment, telebehavioral-health practice, consultation skills, and ethical decision-making. Supervision should also address dual relationships, confidentiality limits, documentation, power differentials, mission or organizational pressure, and the potential conflict between individual well-being and operational priorities.
