IASC Teaching Statement
The International Association for Space Counseling advances high-quality education and training in space counseling, behavioral health, human adaptation, and psychologically informed human-performance support. IASC promotes accessible, evidence-informed, and culturally responsive learning experiences that prepare students, counselors, supervisors, researchers, educators, and interdisciplinary professionals to understand and respond to the behavioral-health realities of human spaceflight and extreme environments.
IASC supports curriculum and professional-development opportunities that connect counseling knowledge with space psychology, human factors, aerospace medicine, ethics, systems thinking, telehealth, team dynamics, family systems, and international collaboration. Educational offerings should translate emerging research into practical knowledge while clearly distinguishing established evidence from developing theory, expert consensus, and exploratory practice.
