1. About IASC

The International Association for Space Counseling (IASC) is a professional membership organization dedicated to advancing behavioral health in human spaceflight and extreme environments. IASC is a professional association, not a government agency, licensing board, accrediting body, or employer.

IASC provides educational resources, professional community, publications, and advocacy for the emerging field of space behavioral health. Membership in IASC does not confer any professional license, credential, certification, or legal standing of any kind.

Members who misrepresent their IASC membership as a credential, qualification, or endorsement for employment purposes may have their membership revoked.

5. IASC Is Not a Counseling Practice

IASC is a professional membership association and does not provide, offer, or practice counseling, psychotherapy, mental health treatment, psychological services, or any clinical services of any kind.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), or your local emergency services.

Members who are licensed mental health professionals are solely responsible for their own professional conduct, licensure compliance, and clinical practice.

6. Code of Conduct

All IASC members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional integrity, respect, and ethical behavior in all IASC spaces including events, forums, publications, and communications.

Members shall conduct themselves with professionalism and integrity, treat all individuals with dignity and respect, accurately represent their credentials, respect confidentiality of member-only spaces, disclose conflicts of interest, comply with all applicable laws, adhere to research ethics standards, and not misrepresent IASC's positions in public communications.

7. Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate membership suspension or permanent revocation without refund: harassment or abusive behavior, discrimination, fraudulent misrepresentation of credentials, unauthorized use of IASC intellectual property, sharing member-only content without authorization, soliciting members for commercial purposes without approval, providing clinical services under the IASC name, and any conduct that undermines the integrity or mission of IASC.

8. Enforcement & Disciplinary Procedures

Members may report alleged violations in writing to IASC leadership. IASC will review reports and conduct investigations at its discretion. Disciplinary actions may include written warning, temporary suspension, permanent revocation, or referral to licensing boards or law enforcement. Members subject to disciplinary action may submit a written appeal within thirty (30) days.

IASC PROVIDES ALL MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS, RESOURCES, PUBLICATIONS, EVENTS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IASC and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from membership or use of IASC services.

12. Amendments, Governing Law & Miscellaneous

IASC reserves the right to amend these Membership Terms and Code of Conduct at any time. Members will be notified of material changes via email or prominent notice on the IASC website. Continued membership following notice of amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which IASC is incorporated.
